How Poland's shopping Sundays are calculated
This page calculates the calendar from the rule in force under Polish law: the Sunday immediately before Easter, the last Sundays of January, April, June and August, and the three Sundays before 24 December. If a month-end Sunday is also a public holiday, the retail ban continues to apply on that date.
The calculation updates automatically. The 2026 dates were also cross-checked against the schedule published by Poland's National Labour Inspectorate (PIP). Always check the opening hours of a specific store before making a long trip.
What can open on a non-shopping Sunday?
The ban does not mean that everything is closed. Polish law provides exceptions including pharmacies, petrol stations, retail outlets at railway stations and airports, and shops where the owner personally serves customers under the statutory conditions. A branch opening on one Sunday does not guarantee that the same branch will open on the next one.
If you urgently need groceries on a non-shopping Sunday, some Żabka stores may open when the franchise owner personally serves customers. Shops at petrol stations also commonly offer drinks, snacks and a limited range of basic groceries and essentials. Chains do not have one universal Sunday schedule, so check the opening hours of the specific location before travelling.
Online shops can accept orders on non-shopping Sundays, although fulfilment and delivery may begin on the next working day. You can compare current sales, discounts and coupon codes in the PromoPoland.pl deals feed.
How to plan your shopping
- For a larger purchase, compare the nearest shopping Sunday with the opening hours of the store you intend to visit.
- If you only need one item, check the store map or website: eligibility depends on the outlet's type and operation.
- For an online order, verify the delivery date and the final basket price after applying any coupon code.
